How to Connect Google to OpenClaw

OpenClaw isn’t just a powerful tool out of the box—it’s a platform that grows with you. The secret? Skills. These plugins expand OpenClaw’s capabilities, allowing it to handle everything from productivity tasks to smart home automation. With thousands of community-built skills available in the Claw Hub marketplace, you can customize OpenClaw to fit your exact needs.

Installing skills is straightforward, even if some require external accounts or credentials. The best part? OpenClaw guides you through every step, so you’re never left figuring it out alone. One of the most popular skills is GOG, which connects OpenClaw to your Google Workspace—Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Sheets, and more. Here’s how to set it up and start automating your workflow.

1. Installing the Google Workspace Skill

To get started, simply ask OpenClaw to install the Gogg Google Workspace skill. If the bot misinterprets your request (e.g., confusing it with the Gogg gaming platform), clarify your intent. Once installed, OpenClaw will prompt you to add credentials to connect to your Google Cloud account.

You’ll be directed to console.cloud.google.com. Log in, agree to the terms of service, and create a new project named OpenClaw. This project will serve as the foundation for your integration.

2. Enabling APIs for Google Tools

Next, enable the APIs for the Google tools you want OpenClaw to access. Navigate to APIs and Services in the left sidebar, then click Enable APIs and Services. Search for and enable APIs for:

  • Gmail
  • Calendar
  • Drive
  • Sheets
  • Docs
  • People API (for contacts)

For each API, search for it, select it, and click Enable. This ensures OpenClaw has the necessary permissions to interact with your Google Workspace.

3. Creating Credentials

After enabling the APIs, return to the APIs and Services page and select Credentials from the left menu. Click Create Credentials and choose OAuth Client ID. If prompted, configure the consent screen:

  • Name your app (e.g., OpenClaw).
  • Select your user support email.
  • Set the audience to External.
  • Enter your contact information and finalize the setup.

Return to the Credentials page, create an OAuth Client ID for a Desktop App, and download the provided JSON file. Upload this file to OpenClaw in Telegram to store your credentials.

4. Authorizing Your Account

OpenClaw will ask for your Gmail address and provide an authorization link. Click the link, select your Google account, and authorize the app. If the app is in testing mode, add your email as a test user in the Google Cloud Console under OAuth Consent Screen > Test Users.

After authorization, you’ll encounter a localhost redirect error—this is expected. Copy the entire URL from the address bar and paste it back into your Telegram conversation with OpenClaw. This completes the setup, and OpenClaw will now have access to your Google Workspace tools.

5. Testing the Integration

Now that everything is set up, test the integration by asking OpenClaw to check your calendar or send an email. For example:

  • “What’s on my calendar for Thursday?” OpenClaw will retrieve your scheduled events.
  • “Reschedule my lunch with Tim to Friday and send him an apology email.” OpenClaw will update your calendar and notify Tim automatically.

OpenClaw confirms the changes and sends an email to Tim, explaining the rescheduling. This seamless automation saves you time and effort, allowing you to focus on what matters most.

With OpenClaw and its skills, you’re not just managing tasks—you’re building a smarter, more efficient workflow. Whether it’s scheduling meetings, sending emails, or organizing your digital life, OpenClaw puts the power of automation at your fingertips. Ready to unlock your productivity?
